PLASTER-METHODOLOGY


 SCOPE

This work procedure narrates the guidelines for carrying out external plaster work as per Standard Rules.

RESPONSIBILITY OF WORK

Responsibility of all concerned are clearly mentioned with respect to overall administration and implementation in the approved organisation

MATERIAL TO BE USED

River Sand or siloes sand, / Cement (OPC -53 Grades), glass fibre mesh (as per approved brand), fibre for conventional plaster

SAFETY REQUIREMENT

Safety i-card should be available with workmen

Provide proper access to workmen to reach the workplace at height level

MSDS (Material safety data sheet) should be available with site engineer

Before start the work on site worker should be aware about MSDS

Stack the material as per the safety norms and keep the flammable material away from fire points

Ensure workman is using personal protection equipment’s during work at site (safety goggles, gumboot, and full body harness with scaffold hook & rubber hand gloves.)

Provide proper safety Proper illuminations (Light) arrangement should be done before start

Arrangements & barricading to the outer edge of water proofing treatment area like retaining wall, chajjas, flower bed area etc

If working in confined space use confined space work permit

DEVELOPMENT OF EQUIPMENT’S 

Mixer for mortar preparation (site mix)

Spirit level (Tube level), line dori, right angle, plumb bob, working tools

 Tools for hacking, chipping & cleaning, metal wire brush /broom etc

SET OUTS

All points reference points shall be as per GFC Drawing

Implementation

PRIOR TO WORK

Ensure for area to be clean thoroughly of loose material laitance, oil greases, concrete / debris etc

Ensure that the holes cracks & free from any other contamination which could reduce the bond strength

Ensure that adequate Material will be available at site sand, water, glass fibre mesh as approved, cement, fibre shall be available at work location

Prepare arrangement for mortar making like mixer, water storage tank (dram), farma etc

Hack the concrete surface

Glass fibre mesh fixing normal cement paste.

DURING WORK (FOR EXTERNAL PLASTER)

Checking glass fibre mesh to be provided at all joints at RCC & MASONRY is in one line (i.e. column & wall, beam &wall)

Make dhada in Plumb & line.

Do the 1st coat plaster use farma for sand.

Check the mix of mortar (cement & sand) 1:4 ratio & fibre 12 mm for 1st coat & 6mm for 2ed coat

Curing to be done for 3 to 4 days for 1st coat

Do the 2ed coat after curing period

Check the plaster as per elevation drawing

Check the 7 day curing after complication of plaster

AFTER WORK

Ensure for cleaning of dead mortar & housekeeping.

Ensure for curing shall be done for minimum 3 to 4 days for 1st coat & 7 days for 2ed coat only

After plaster work is over (only for 1st coat), the plaster shall be marked date, visible for inspection & curing
