IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER AT THE TIME OF GIVING ‘ANTITERMITE TREATMENT’.

BASICS
anti termite treatment is basically a protection given from attacks of termites to the structures.
termites affects the larger part of materials used in construction of building like wood, soil etc...
the main objective of the article is to give you the checklist while performing anti-termite treatment to any kind of structures.

IMPORTANT POINTS

1) Sub base should be kept free from all debris in which new colonies of termites might be established.

2) Barrier should be complete and continuous under the whole of structure to be projected.

3) All foundations shall be fully surrounded by and in close contact with the barrier of treated surface.

4) Treatment should be start above p. c. c. before waterproofing in case of raft foundation.

5) Laying of waterproofing should be start when the chemical emulsion has been absorbed by the p. c. c. and surface is quite dry.

6) Treatment should not carry out when it is raining or when the soil is wet with rain or sub – soil work.
                                                                                                                                                                                   7) A suitable hand operated compressed air sprayer or watering can should be used to facilitate uniform dispersal of chemical emulsion.

8) In the event of water logging of foundation, the water shall be pumped out and the chemical emulsion is applied when the surface is absorbent.

9) The bottom surface and sides (up to a height of about 300 mm) of the excavation made for foundation / basement shall be treated with chemical at the rate of 5 litre per square meter surface area.

10) Vertical walls are treated after waterproofing at the rate of 7.5 litre per square meter at the time of back filling.

11) After building is completed the earth along the external periphery of the building should be rode at the interval of 150 mm and to depth of 300 mm. the rods should be moved forward and backward to the wall to break up the earth and chemical emulsion poured along the wall at the rate of 7.5 litre per square meter of the vertical surface, after treatment earth should be grounded on the completion of the building.

12) Treatment for expansion joint. The soil near the joints should receive special attention when the treatment is carried out. This treatment should be supplemented by treatment through the expansion joint after the sub grade has been laid at the rate of 2 litre per running meter.
